Dune House, Flo Kemp
16 Flo Kemp Dune House

Etching. 22/100. Signed. Matted and framed. Kemp's work, both in the etching and also with the oils, reflects her quiet personality. Be it a land or a seascape, her etchings and oils are serene reflective, subtle and simple in design. Dune House is an example of her soft ground etchings. Each etching is made from zinc plates and nitric acid. They are inked a la poupe--all the colors are placed on the plate at once so that the plate has one pass through the etching press. This technique results in soft, serene, "painterly" etchings. Kemp is an active member of the National Association of Women Artists and the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in Manhattan. She is listed in Who's Who in American Art.

Cuernabaca, G. Rosnles (Rosales)
17 G. Rosnles (Rosales) Cuernabaca

Original watercolor. Signed. c. 1950s. Matted in gray wash stained frame. Cuernavaca was nicknamed the "City of Eternal Spring" by Alexander von Humboldt in the nineteenth century. It has long been a favorite escape for Mexico City and foreign visitors because of this warm, stable climate and abundant vegetation. Aztec emperors had summer residences there, and today many famous people as well as Mexico City residents maintain homes there. Cuernavaca is the capital and largest city of the state of Morelos in Mexico. It was established by the Olmec, "the mother culture" of Mesoamerica, approximately 3200 years ago and is designated as the archaeological site of Cualupita I. The city is located south of Mexico City.
